Terms

These terms cover buying searches, and codes for friends, on TyreKicker. They're short on purpose. If anything's unclear, email mail at tyrekicker dot uk.

Who you're buying from

We are trading as TyreKicker (the used car search at tyrekicker.uk), based in Stevenage, United Kingdom. You can reach us at mail at tyrekicker dot uk.

What you're buying

Searches. A search is one car search on TyreKicker: you tell us what you want, we search online car ads (and Facebook Marketplace, if you tick it), check the MOT histories of the cars on our shortlist, read the most promising adverts in full and email you a link to a report with the good ones.

If nothing near you is good enough, your report says so and the search goes back on your account, ready to use again. Each search can come back this way once: if the search you got back also finds nothing good, it counts. And it happens at most twice in any 24 hours: after that, a search that finds no good cars counts as a search. This includes your free search.

Codes for friends cost the same: 1 code for £2.99, 3 codes for £7.85 or 5 codes for £11.99. Each code runs one search for whoever adds it.

That's the full price, with nothing more to pay. We may change our prices, but never for searches or codes you've already bought.

Your first search is free: one free search per person, added to your account once your email address is confirmed (signing in with Google or Apple confirms it). It's one per email inbox, ever, even if you delete your account and make a new one, and not for throwaway or alias addresses. It's the full search, it doesn't expire, and free searches start after paid ones.

Paying

Pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay (whichever your device offers) on Stripe's secure payment page, or with the Apple Pay and Google Pay buttons on My searches. Stripe takes the payment for us: we never see or store your card details. We email you a confirmation as soon as your searches are added, or the codes themselves if they're for friends.

When you get your searches

Straight away. As soon as Stripe tells us you've paid, your searches are added to the TyreKicker account you were signed in with, so there's nothing to type in, and you can see them on My searches. They don't expire.

If you choose For friends on My searches, we email the codes to your account's address instead, one per line, and nothing is added to your account. Each runs one search for whoever adds it, you included, and they don't expire. Anyone who has one of these codes can use it, so share them only with people you trust. We don't keep a copy of them: if you lose the email, write to us and we'll cancel the ones nobody has added yet and send you new ones.

Refunds and cancelling

When you buy, you ask us to give you your codes straight away (added to your account, or emailed to you if they're for friends) and you agree that, once you have them, you can't cancel the purchase or get your money back for it.

If a search fails on our side, or you or we cancel it before it's done, whoever ran it gets the code back automatically, ready to use again. You can cancel a search on its page while it waits in the queue, and once it has started while it's still searching the car ads (up to 3 started searches a day); after that it runs to the end.

If a payment is refunded or disputed, its codes that haven't been used are cancelled, codes for friends included.

If you were charged but didn't get your codes, or something else went wrong with a payment, email us and we'll put it right.

Your statutory rights are not affected.

Full history checks

A full history check is a one-off report on one car's records (theft, finance, write-offs, keepers, mileage, MOT, tax and value) from our data supplier, CheckCarDetails. It costs £4.99, paid once by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. It starts as soon as you've paid and is usually ready in seconds.

When you pay, you ask us to start the check straight away, and you agree that once it has started you can't cancel it or get your money back for it.

If we can't get the car's records, we refund you automatically to the card you paid with. The records come from other organisations and can be incomplete or out of date: we can't guarantee them, and the check isn't an inspection of the car. You can see your check on My searches for a year.

For a history check, Stripe sends the receipt to your email address. We don't email you the result: it's on the check's page and on My searches.

Your account

Codes added to an account stay on it. If you delete your account, any codes on it you haven't used go with it and can't be refunded. Codes for friends we've already emailed you keep working.

Our reports

Reports are a head start, not a guarantee. Adverts can be wrong or out of date and we can miss things, so always see the car in person and check the V5C logbook before you pay a seller.

The law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
